PTO Meeting

January 21st, 2009

A regular meeting of the Parent Teacher Organization was held Wednesday, January 21st  in the Cafeteria of the Cornwall-On-Hudson Elementary School.  PTO Officers AnnMarie Dunn, Kristen deBree, Sonja Briggs, Dawn Ackerman and Joanne Incognoli were present.

Call to Order:

PTO Co-President, AnnMarie Dunn called the meeting to order at 7:40 pm.

Review and Acceptance of September  and October minutes:

AnnMarie Dunn made a motion to accept the minutes with a second from Kristen deBree.

Principal’s Report:  

Ms. O’Dell reported on the following item on Mr. Schmidt’s behalf:

•    The 3rd grade did the popping for Popcorn Friday on January 9th.

•    Denim Day took place on January 23rd.

•    The 2nd of 3 Double Dutch events took place on January 23rd.

•    The ELA tests for Grade 3 & 4 have been completed and will be marked this week.

•    The 2nd marking period will end on January 30th.  Report cards will go home on February 10th.  K-4 Parent Conferences are scheduled for February 19th.

•    The Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser will begin on February 2nd and conclude on February 23rd.

•    The All District Music Workshop will take place on February 4th hosted by CCHS.  This will be attended by the 4th grade.

•    An assembly problem will be presented to all K-4 students on February 12th.  It is entitled “The Morris Brothers Character Education Program”.

•    Red Hot Day will be on February 12th to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

•    The students have joined other districts in submitting Valentine’s Day cards to be delivered to our US deployed troops.

•    The Student Council trip to Central Administration will take place on February 20th.

•    The 4th grade Instrumental Recital will take place on February 25th at 7:00 pm.

•    There was nothing to report.

First Vice President

•    There was nothing to report.

Second Vice President (via proxy)

•    It was reported that the Gertrude Hawk and Kids Art Fundraiser are right on track.

Treasurer

•    As a result of our current financial issues the following adjustments have been made to the 2008-2009 PTO Budget:

o       4th Grade Moving Up cut to $300.00 (original budget $600.00)

o       4th Grade Yearbook Gifting removed (original budget $1200.00)

o       Banking Program cut to $50.00 (original budget $150.00)

o       Candidate Night removed (original budget $50.00)

o       Faculty Appreciation Luncheon cut to $150.00 (original budget $350.00)

o       Friday Morning Opening Tees removed (original budget $350.00)

o       Garden Program removed (original budget $75.00)

o       Teacher Retirement Gifts removed (original budget $200.00)

o       Kindergarten Moving Up removed (original budget $100.00)

o       Recess Equipment cut to $100.00 (original budget $200.00)

o       Science Fair removed (original budget $75.00)

o       Sunshine Fund removed (original budget $75.00)

o       Yearbook cut to $100.00 (original budget $500.00)

•    Joanne Incognoli reported that she will be checking on the whether or not the new inclusion class will be needing a grade parent.

Committee Reports:

•        The final profit of the Fall Book fair was $837.57

•        It was reported that the Holiday Bazaar had made a profit of $1526.58 plus an additional $264.00 from the raffle.
